Teaser: Saffron, a shawl
The pattern I've been working on for over a year, a screen-accurate copy of the red shawl worn by Saffron in Our Mrs Reynolds, is nearly ready! Watch this blog for updates regarding the release.
Thanks go out to my volunteer tech editor and the brave test knitters in the BigDamnKnitters group at Ravelry.
This pattern will be a free PDF download, available through Ravelry and my document shelf at Scribd. I will make announcements on my public blog, at livejournal, and on Ravelry.
Finished web design project
I'm really happy with it, so far.
Heaven's Pavement is a promotional site for a book written by my late sort-of-grandpa. I designed it to coordinate with the book cover design, using actual memorabilia of his, while working closely with his wife to get the look and feel right.
She gave me a copy of the book, and I've been reading it. It's a fictionalized account of the last major paratooper operation in WW2, based on his experiences. Pretty serious stuff. It's very good, but I find myself not wanting to finish it because that will mean the last story of his will be over.
Finally, an update!
Things are beginning to settle a bit, my little guys are in school and Con Season is pretty much at a lull for us.
I recently made Kaylee for a swap on Ravelry and I think I am ready to make and dress dolls again.
I've decided that my redheaded girl, who I had made ages ago but never costumed, was actually waiting to be Saffron from Our Mrs Reynolds (and also Trash, I think. This one wants two outfits). She'll go in my Etsy store, or maybe be the first thing in my Artfire shop.
She has that right sweet-but-up-to-something look, and I think I might just be willing to cut that long hair I gave her.
Comic Con! Feet Hurt!
We ran a fan table for our costuming group at Comic Con this weekend. Lots of photoshoots, but my shoes make me so tall I had to stand in the back - so I am invisible in most of them. Hopefully there will be some good photo posted over the next week.
It went well, I'm really tired.
